India’s premier non-governmental, not-for-profit, and

industry-led business association. Headquartered in

New Delhi, it functions as an advocacy group and

advisory body that works closely with the government

to shape economic and industrial policies.

Founded over 130 years ago in 1895, CII plays a

central role in driving India’s industrial growth,

modernization, and global competitiveness.

Size and ScaleCII represents a massive

ecosystem of private and public sector enterprises,

including Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises

(MSMEs) and Multinational Corporations (MNCs):

  • Direct Members: Over 9,700 companies.
  • Indirect Members: Over 365,000 enterprises
    through integration with 318 national and regional
    sectoral industry bodies.
  • Presence: Operates 70 offices across India
    (including 12 dedicated Centres of Excellence)
    and maintains 9 institutional overseas offices
    (including in the US, UK, Germany, Singapore,

Specialized Wings and Institutional ArmsTo execute its diverse mandates, CII has developed targeted sub organizations:

  1. Young Indians (Yi): A movement engaging young professionals and student chapters in nation-building and
    entrepreneurship.
  2. Indian Green Building Council (IGBC): A division of the CII Godrej Green Business Centre actively driving the
    adoption of sustainable, green building ratings and construction practices across India.
  3. CII Institute of Quality: Adedicated wing located in Bengaluru focusing entirely on training industries in operational
    excellence and quality management frameworks.
